Counselling for Children and Young People
A safe, supportive and creative space where children and young people can explore their feelings, thoughts and behaviours

How Counselling Can Help
At any age, talking about our emotions can be really challenging. Counselling provides a safe and supportive space where children and young people can explore difficult feelings and experiences, and develop self-confidence and resilience.
Sessions are tailored to each child or young person. Depending on age and preference, we might use creative materials, play, stories, metaphor or conversation to explore thoughts, feelings and experiences.
I work with children and young people online (via Zoom) or in person (in Cambridge, UK)
My Approach
Child-Centred

I work with each child or young person to find the materials that feel comfortable for them. I follow their pace to help develop a shared understanding of their emotions and the challenges they are facing
Collaborative

Whilst maintaining confidentiality, I work alongside parents, caregivers and schools to support the child or young person as best we can. Parents and caregivers are part of assessments and reviews
Creative and Supportive

Creating a warm therapeutic relationship with each child or young person is the most important part of my work. I use creativity, play and humour to help develop this
What to Expect
1) Initial Conversation
An opportunity for the parents or caregivers to ask questions and consider whether counselling is right for their child
2) Assessment Sessions
The purpose of these two sessions are for us to get to know each other, and to explore together the main reasons for coming to therapy and any relevant background information.
3) Ongoing Counselling
Weekly sessions at a consistent time each week. These are 50 minutes in length and cost £70 (a small number of reduced rate sessions are available- please get in touch for more information)
4) Reviews and Ending
I work with most children and young people for 20 sessions. Parents/Caregivers are invited in for review meetings midway through the work and again towards the end.
